Dive into Powerhoof’s atmospheric adventure, where tense storytelling, retro pixel art, and pulpy 1970s thriller vibes come together in a uniquely Aussie setting.
Dave Lloyd, co-founder of indie studio Powerhoof, returns to the show to talk about THE DRIFTER, a gritty point-and-click adventure set against a distinctly Australian backdrop. With evocative pixel art, sharp voice performances, and thriller-inspired storytelling, THE DRIFTER marks the studio’s first major narrative outing after the multiplayer chaos of Regular Human Basketball and Crawl. We dig into the process of designing modern adventure games, how 1970s pulp fiction shaped the tone and structure, and the power of grounding stories in local context.
THE DRIFTER launches on Steam 17th July 2025, with a Switch release to come.
