TALES OF THE SHIRE is a cosy farming sim made with love, care and Tolkien magic

Make a corner of Middle Earth your own with TALES OF THE SHIRE, the newest game in the Lord of the Rings franchise that gives you your very own Hobbit hole and farm.

Wētā Workshop's very own UX Designer Jordan Peat and 3D Artist Kurt Adams joined me for an exclusive early playthrough of TALES OF THE SHIRE , helping me get hands on with the beautiful town of Bywater, make some happy Hobbit friends and generally eat about seventeen meals a day.

We chatted about their favourite locations on the map, the Tolkien scholar who approved all of their designs, and the adorable goose that wears a dwarven helm - A.K.A. my new best friend.

This game is a total labour of love and a devoted homage to a franchise that has been near and dear to my heart for the vast majority of my life, bringing a previously untapped genre to the world of Lord of the Rings.

One of the standouts for me was the spectacularly free character creation, including some really loose gender assignment and easily alterable name and body shapes - a total rarity in this genre, and you can definitely expect to hear more from me about it!

So grab a plate, pour some tea and pick some flowers - it's time to enter The Shire.
