It's time to help a small town find their perfect summer reads.
With a precious hand-drawn style and a beautiful message of getting the hell away from all your problems and opening a cute little book cart, TINY BOOKSHOP is the casual and cosy obsession for all my BookTok girlies. And yes, it has ACOTAR.
Head out to Bookstonbury, the literary beach-side town in need of a new bookseller. Roll out your dinky little wooden trailer, sell some titles and generally discuss small-townisms with the colourful cast of friendly residents. Inspire shoppers with recommendations based on their preferences and criteria and decorate your little shop with little items that will give you genre buffs to help you get more money for the only thing that matters - buying more books.
With multiple locations to set up your shop, all with their own characters to help you on your journey. Will you prioritise travel books for the sailors in their cutesy striped shirts? Kids books for the colourful youngins running around the beach? Personally, I like to fill my shelves with fantasy and crime books, just to see how many titles I’ve read and loved.
Am I using the recommendation function for evil (forcing everyone to read my favourite books, even if it doesn’t fit their requests)? Yes. Is this to the detriment of my business? Probably also yes.
Tiny Bookshop has everything a casual gamer would look for - customisation, relationships, travel and cuteness abound. I’ll be honest, I’ve been playing the game on my Switch 2, and while it works I think the game would be far better suited to PC - with the amount of cursor movement, the Switch feels slightly limiting, but that’s a reflection of my choice, not the game itself. Though, the Switch does help for playing this game in my preferred way - curled up in a blanket with a warm cup of tea. Is this the perfect game for a book lover? I certainly think so.
A copy of TINY BOOKSHOP on SWITCH 2 was provided to SIFTER for the purpose of this review.
