Carry your Nintendo Switch 2 in style with the new Belkin accessories range!
Belkin have begun their foray into gaming accessories, acting as an accompaniment to the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2. This first launch currently includes two styles of case and two styles of screen protector for the new handheld, with promises of more to come. Cables and docks make up most of the lineup for future releases, but hints were dropped that the Switch won’t be the only console getting some new bling in the future.
Of the two cases, Belkin was kind enough to send the big ticket item, the protective charging case, to myself, Gianni and Chris. The well-made shell of the case opens to show off the real star of the show - the specially designed portable charger that puts out just enough watts to charge the Switch efficiently without generating too much heat and setting your new best friend on fire, with a 15 wattage maximum.
The charger comes with a special right angle cable, but be very careful! Belkin is not selling the cable separately, and buying the charger on it’s own will put you back AUD$99.95 (the same price as the case as a whole), and though the Switch 2 and all of Belkin’s products are PD certified and thus can be paired, the spaces in the case will not be a perfect match to all Belkin products, so maybe try not to lose them…which may not be that hard, thanks to the case’s super secret Apple AirTag compartment hidden within the storage pocket. Overall it’s a real handy case, with only two real problems that I can think of - firstly, when the case is open, it feels like the Switch doesn’t fit quite right on top of the charger, though this doesn’t stop it from feeling secured and closing properly.
My main issue, though, is a visual one - the protective case comes in only one colour, while the softer travel case comes in three, and let me just say, they’re not very eye-catching! For myself, going from a cute, pastel yellow case and a teal Timmy and Tommy Nook themed Switch Lite to a black Switch 2 and ‘charcoal’ grey Belkin case…my whimsy feels slightly shriveled. Though, the lovely people at Belkin have promised new colours to come, and even hinted at some potential collaborations or limited edition styles!
Again, the protective charging case goes for AUD$99.95, and the travel case for AUD$39.95
The two tempered-glass screen protectors, both going for AUD$29.95, each have their own personal super powers! That’s right, you can choose from either blue light filter, or anti-reflective coating on the glass, meaning if you’re more of an under the covers player or a sitting in a sun patch player, there’s a perfect option for you. Now, if only we could get one with both for players like me, who like a good mix of an afternoon sun patch and a late night Kirby-cram.
